. Monday's Marigold Muse . Sarah Hood .
This Monday we catchup with fellow creative Sarah Hood from @generallyworn, influenced by the earthy, 70's - 90's inspired surfing nostalgia, Sarah sources and curates vintage and second hand pieces through her online instagram and website platforms. A one woman show, she talks to us about family, running our own small business and what it takes to stay inspired < 3

MM: What is your favourite creative outlet and how do you stay inspired?
.
SH: I love op shopping or antiquing. There's the thrill of finding something amazing amongst the clutter. The euphoria I get from this is compared to a drug. If you're an avid op shopper, you just know! But like any other creative, you go through waves, where you're brimming with flow and other times in a rut. I try to listen to what my mind needs, sometimes its sewing, it might be rearranging a space in my home, or taking a pottery class.

MM: Tell us how you started your business Generally Worn?
.
SH: Nearly 4 years ago now, I had a thriving jewellery brand called Arrow Divine, and at the time it was really busy, being stocked in many retailers in Aus and internationally. My youngest daughter was diagnosed with a rare syndrome, which rocked my world to its core. A combination of grief and feeling creatively drained, I saw a small window of opportunity to do something that was more slower paced, while being creative. This being sourcing and selling vintage. I used my online store to sell vintage with the jewellery brand to see if my customers would appreciate it, and entire collections were selling the day they went online. I decided to make a separate instagram account, and bring over followers who only wanted to view the vintage I was uploading online, and essentially created another entire brand off the back of that. Fast forward to now, and Generally Worn has evolved to it's own online store and beautiful community.

MM: You juggle your time between being a mum, running a business and renovating your family home, what's your secret to staying on top of everything?
MM: You juggle your time between being a mum, running a business and renovating your family home, what's your secret to staying on top of everything?
.
SH: I wish I had the answer. The juggle is very real. I try to have set days/hours during the week that I work, and depending how my workload looks, I chose to utilise some time for exercise. That's extremely important for my mental health.
.
MM: What is/are your biggest inspiration/s?
.
SH:I love hearing from other female business owners. Whats worked, what doesn't. Those women are my inspiration. I've also just finished Samantha Wills novel, she is an absolute inspiration. What she accomplished is unbelievable.
.
MM: What is the best advice you have received?
